What keeps frozen lemonade from turning into a solid in the freezer?!
Answers:
citric acidWww@FoodAQ@Com
Probably the sugar/corn syrup stuff that sweetens it!.
If you add chemicals (any chemicals) to water, it changes its freezing point!. That's how antifreeze works!. So if you put salt in water, sugar in water, any chemicals you want in water, the freezing point will go up or down!.
Since frozen lemonade is only a little lemon juice and water and a whole lotta sweetener, the freezing point will be closer to that of the sweetener (which, I suppose doesn't freeze at regular freezer temps!.)
Like, say, when people put a bottle of vodka in the freezer--it gets just as cold as anything else in there, but it doesn't turn solid!. Its freezing point is lower than the temp in the freezer!.
Isn't chemistry fun!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
