If Potatoe is a vegatable , Why isnt chips/fries vegetables?!
Its just potatoed fried and heated!.

A Potatoe is consider a starch when it comes to food groups!. Fruits and vegtables are not so easily defiend as growing "above" or "under" ground and has more to do with the item being a seed or containg seeds!. Onions grow above ground but are not fruit!.
A potatoe is bascailly natures giant sugar cube!. Your body does not process starch very well when it comes to nutritonal value and your body just turns it into sugar!. Sugar is not used very much by your body and turns it into fat!. Vegatables like carrots contain other types of sugars in smaller amounts that give carrots sweet taste but this sugar is in small enough amounts that it does not over shadow the vitamins that make carrots good for you!.
Chips and fries are even worse because they are more then often deep fried in oil and fat and coated with salt and other flavoring!. Freshly cut potatoes baked in your oven would not be any where near as bad for you!. Just regular potatoes are often covered in butter, salt or even things like sour cream that again are not good for you!.

Fries and chips are still vegetables actually, but gorged with oil!. Potatoes are special in that they grow underground unlike most fruits and veggies, and is therefore considered a root (packed with starch)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
