Answers:
I found this on wikipedia:

"In the United States, the Mobil Travel Guides and the American Automobile Association rate restaurants on a 1 to 5 star (Mobil) or Diamond (AAA) scale!. Three, four, and five star/diamond ratings are roughly equivalent to the Michelin one, two, and three star ratings while one and two star ratings typically indicate more casual places to eat"!. (The Michelin system of rating is done in Europe and is what AAA uses as a model to rate hotels and restaurants!.)

FYI: Restaurants have to pay a yearly fee in order to be rated!. If they don't, then they can't be rated with stars!. Critics from the AAA come to review the restaurants and hotels!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

a critic goes and reviews the restaurant!. u kno, how ppl review movies!. people do that for restaurants too- review service, efficiency, taste, atmosphere, etcWww@FoodAQ@Com

check with AAA!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
