Well!.!.!.I love to eat mine!.!.!. I like to toast them and then spread them with crunchy peanut-butter while they are still hot!
Heels are also great in stuffings, bread crumbs (to add to meatloafs) and for making salad croutons among many things!.
Heels also help to keep the rest of the loaf moist and ovioualy birds like to eat them too!. I cube and dry any left-overs I have for trips to the park with my granddaughter!.
A very useful food product!

To keep the loaf of bread fresh and stop the inner pieces from drying out! By the way, I love eating the end parts of the bread, also known as the "heels" because its more crispy than the inner pieces and I would have something to chew on!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
