Answers:
It's called Red Delicious, and No, it's not out of season, because I work at a grocery store and see it everyday!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sounds like the kind of apple from Snow White's fairytale!. =D
There are soooooo many red apples that it could be!.!.!.
Two varieties that fit the description perfectly are Red Jonaprince and Red Windsor!.
Red Devil is my own all-time favourite red apple, but its flesh is tinged with pink at the edges so it can't be the one you're yearning for!.

You can have a wonderful time here, browsing through apple varieties till you have to put on your trainers and RUN to the greengrocer's!.!.!. it's the apples section of the National Fruit Collection in Kent: http://www!.brogdale!.org!.uk/nfc_plants1!.p!.!.!.
Not only do they have mouthwatering photos; they also give "picking dates" so you can have an idea of when they might be available!. This is for Britain, mind you -- you'd have to make some adjustments if you're elsewhere in the world!.

They grow 1,882 kinds of apple at Brogdale, so I'd suggest narrowing down your search with the word "red"!.
Have fun!.
