Is the skin of fruit nutritous?!

Question: Is the skin of fruit nutritous!?
Is there any nutritious significance to the skin on fruits, or would it be just as well to peel it away for the fruit's meat on the inside!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
In many cases you've got more vitamins & minerals in the skin than in the rest of the fruit!. In a lot of cases the skin however doesn't taste all that good!. An example would be the white stuff or "piff" in citrus fruits!. There's more vitamin C in the piff than in the rest of the fruit!.

So if you like the taste, eat the skin!. Otherwise peel it away!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

This would largely depend on the fruit and how the skin (or rind) was prepared!. I wouldn't bother with a banana peel or the rind of certain melons for example, but most fruit skins and rinds, when properly prepared or washed , are quite edible and an excellent source of fiber & vitamin C, etc!.!.!.!.in short!.!.!.well worth consuming!. Watermelon rinds make a terrific sweet pickle and even the peels of oranges, lemons, limes and grapefruit can be "candied" or made into tasty marmalades!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Fruits are good for you, no matter whether you eat the skin or not !.!.!.

BUT !.!.!.

An awful lot of the nutrients are lost if you do NOT eat the skin! Certain fruits, such as apples!. Others, like oranges, bananas, you shouldn't/can't eat the skin!

Rule of thumb !.!.!. if the skin is edible, eat it!. If not, most of the nutrients are packed inside!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yes many nutrients are packed into the skin of many fruits for example:apples,peaches,nectarines,plums,!.!.!. eating the skin is were many nutrients are found!. Exceptions for some fruits the nutrients are inside!.i!.e!. bananas,oranges,grapefruit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is very very nutritious filled with many many vitamins but tastes bitter but will make u very healthyWww@FoodAQ@Com

Some are edible, some are not, but you get more of the goodness if you eat the whole fruit!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
