Licorice root???!
i bought a licorice root the other day becasue it was something odd and very cheep!. what do i do with it!? can it be used in cooking!? if yes, can you give me some recipies!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

you can make an ice cream
INGREDIENTS
6 egg yolks
96g granulated sugar
192ml milk
160 ml double cream
40 (1/4-inch-long) pieces of licorice root
2 tablespoons Pernod liqueur
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
INSTRUCTIONS
Whisk the egg yolks with the sugar in a large bowl!. In a non-aluminium saucepan, combine the milk, heavy cream, and licorice and bring to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently!.
Beat a little of the hot milk mixture into the eggs and then, in a steady stream, slowly whisk in the rest of the hot milk!. Return the mixture to a pan over medium-low heat and cook, stirring constantly, until it thickens visibly!. Do not boil!.
Remove from the heat and stir in the Pernod liqueur and vanilla extract!. Strain through a fine sieve into a bowl, discarding any solids!.(optional) Cool, then chill in the refrigerator!. Freeze as directed in an ice cream maker!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Licorice is a natural laxative!. Just thought you might want to be aware!. also the licorice root tea has an anesthetizing effect that will help soothe an irritated throat and will help to relieve coughs, if you drink it daily!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
