Go by colour and smell, they are reliable!. If it looks fresh and smells fresh than its ok!.
Cooking well makes it even safer!.
I got a turkey breast joint once, that was within the use by date, but when I opened it the smell was pretty horrible!. I rang Asda, and they said bring it in!. I did, and they refunded me double my money without asking any questions, which I thought was pretty good service!.
However, I rang the main office of Asda because I had the problem in my mind as to how that turkey breast had started to go off before the use by date!. They couldn't give me a good answer, refering it back to the local manager!.
Since then there have been reports of lax or even illegal practices in supermarkets as to the dates on the packets and so on!.
So that's why I say I go by colour and smell, and not necesarily the use by date!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Most 'used by' dates are for flavor and freshness, not spoilage!. If you are dealing with anything besides raw meat/fish/poultry/eggs then it will be pretty safe to eat the food a while after the date is over!. If you are dealing with any raw foods than I would stay pretty close to the 'used by' date, even though you are going to cook it!. Just use common sense though, if the food you have is past its date and it doesn't look or smell safe then do not eat it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Absolutely!. Ignore the sell by Date!. That's irrevocable cover by the Companies to stave off Insurance Claims!.
But, where Meat is concerned!. !. !. it would be advisable to munch on such stuff Seven Days (On the basis it is Re-fridgerated) thereafter the said Date!. Anything else , seriously !.!. !. !.will keep as long as it looks and smells alright!. If you need any clues, the smell of a fresh Turd or a pot of Piss-Cheese might help, if something has gone Rotten!.
Yer' food is fine!. Cook the bloody thing, don't waste it!.
There are Millions of people on this Planet willing to risk such a Trivial anomaly through Hunger, lack of Nourishment or Privalages and so forth!.
Be glad you have such fine ware at hand!.

The dates are USE by and not USED by,an entirely different meaning!. However the products are safe to eat today as long as they have been stored below 5 deg C!. If they have been at room temperature there might be a chance of a problem!. If you heat them through very well so that any bugs are killed off with the heat then you should be OK!. Do not warm up this food as it will encourage bacteria to grow fast!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
It should be fine!. Go by the smell and taste!. Same as milk, the date usually is "sell by" date!. I work at a daycare and I use milk up to ten days past that!. But they test is best if poured in a cup or cut the meat on a clean plate, smell and taste!. If your tongue starts to burn or tingle, then its bad!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I do it all the time and never had food poisoning in my life!.!.!. so long as it looks and smells ok (and then if it does, maybe do a taste test with a small amount first just in case)!. and so long as the use by date isn't like a month ago or something significant!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
best before dates are only a guide!.!.!.check how they smell and feel, if they smell off or feel stale then dont take any chances, but sometimes you can get away with it for just one day over!.!.!.obviously not with fresh meats and dairy thoughWww@FoodAQ@Com
use by means eat it by that date!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.!.I wouldn't risk it!.!.!.why would you!?!?!?
