Why does my organic cereal have .5 grams of sat fat?!
I bought this cascadian farm organic cereal which is supposed to be completely healthy for you and USDA organic!. But when I read the nut facts, it says it has !.5 grams of sat fat which if im not mistaken is bad for you!. Whats the deal!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being labeled Organic does not mean it fat free!.
Palm Oil and coconut oil can be completely organic!. Both palm and coconut oil contain saturated fat!. (1)
You must also take into context the amount of "saturated fat" of point five grams per serving in the cereal vs say twelve grams in a BigMac (WITH OUT THE CHEESE!) (2)!.
There is currently a battle over coconut oil as being labeled a villian with other saturated fats!. Experts are now saying that coconut oil is not only not a villian but a hero in the field of nutrition!. (3)
A New York Times artical is quoting a study by Dr!. Andrea Bonanome and Dr!. Scott M!. Grundy of the University of Texas saying "clearly demonstrated that all saturated fats do not have the same ill effects," (4)
A well balanced diet that focuses more on vegtables, fruit, and grains seems to be a healthier way to go!.
*And yes I still like my Hawaiian or Pepperoni Pizza! ( In moderation of course)

'Organic' is a term that is used pretty loosely!. You should be wary of trusting it as a guarantee for a healthy product!.
Nuts are very fatty because they're full of oils!. Not all saturated fat is bad!. The fats found in nuts, legumes, avocadoes, and coconuts are generally considered to be very good for you!. I wouldn't be concerned!. What you might want to pay more attention to is the sugar content and calorie count!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
