Answers:
You can get square ones at Country Style Donuts and Tim Hortons!. Our local bakery also has square ones called "Dutchies"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Donuts are not made in pans like cakes are, so they are more free form as they get fried!. You can't have something soft that is cooking free form cook with corners!. I suppose if you created a device to fry them with corners, you could make them square!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The closest thing would be a New Orleans beignet, which is a fried piece of square dough which is then coated with a lot of powdered sugar!.

bcoz the machine that injects jam or cream into the centre is only configured for circles!. but it would be different to see oblong, triangular and star shaped donuts!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Who says they can't be square!? They can be square!. Anything is possible!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

you design the method and patented it
Just remember the liquid batter will try and be round just by nature!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I guess they were made that way, and they just keep doing it!.!.!. tradition!? It would be pointless to make them squares this far in the game lol But it also might be easier, not sure!Www@FoodAQ@Com

They can!. Would you make up a big batch and invite me over to help eat them!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

I imagine they could be!. The only reason I can think that they couldn't is due to the puffing up when frying!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

They could be its up to the chef!. lol Www@FoodAQ@Com
