Would blue or purple Wilton food coloring gel show up in a chocolate cake!
Answers:
Depends what your chocolate cake recipe is!. Some are darker than others depending on what kind of chocolate you use- eg a bit of cocoa powder vs!. melted dark chocolate!. Why do you want it purple!? The cake itself, I mean!? If you add blue or purple to the actual chocolate cake (as with chocolate icing), it will tend to look dark and not so appetizing, more like black than anything!.
Chocolate is a good base for making things black, or for making things red (eg chocolate icing being turned red, or brown, or black!. So as not to have to add a whole bottle of those colours, you're starting with a dark base already)!.
My advice is to keep your cake the way it is, chocolate, and then colour your white icing!. Just beware that they darken over time, so mix in a bit and let it sit for a while and then add more if you need to!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
