What is that ugly white slab in my can of beans?!

Question: What is that ugly white slab in my can of beans!?
Answers:
A bit of fat to make them taste better!. (This is why there is a such thing as 'vegetarian beans'--most people eat them with some animal fat or butter added, so canned beans often come that way!.)

Or, the "Ask Dr!. Stupid" answer from the Ren & Stimpy show:

That's the queen bean, and all the other beans are the worker beans!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It is fat from the pork, if you can find the tiny piece of pork in the can, take it and the slab of fat and put them in the trash or dog food bowl!. It won't hurt the flavor a bit to remove them!.

Next time get beans without pork in them!.

I happen to like it and add even more bacon to mine, but that is me!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
