How to get jalapeno juice off hands!

Question: How to get jalapeno juice off hands
Last night I cut up some jalapenos and i wasn't smart enough to wear gloves to do it!. Now I have the juice on my hands still from last night!. I have washed my hands with bar soap, dawn, face wash, hand soap, and vinegar!. I keep forgetting and touching the corners of my eyes to scratch them and it really hurts!. Does anyone know a way to get it off!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Lemon juice is best, and natural (and won't dry you out too much)!. You can also buy one of those metal bars they sell for removing onion smell from your hands, which helps neutralize the sting!. Invest in a scrub brush if you plan to cook with them often, as you usually get the juice stuck under your nails, and ooo, trust me, that will get on your contacts!. Ouch!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Water only spreads the fire so don't wash your hand until you neutralize the`heat!. Capsaicin — the compound that gives peppers their heat isn't soluble in water, but chlorine or ammonia turns it into a salt, which IS soluble in water!. In a little bowl add 1 part bleach to 5 parts water and just dip your hands quickly, but don't soak your hands in this solution or it may irritate your skin!.

Follow up by slathering your hands in lotion!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I had the same experience just over a year ago!. What I ended up doing was using abrasion to remove the top layer of skin off my hands to remove the acids on there!. Vigorously rubbing your hands until dirty looking rolls start forming is probably the simplest way, however I lightly floured my hands first to help remove moisture and provide a bit of grit to aid the process!. This won't completely solve the problem the first time you do it but it should reduce you from agony to mere discomfort if you forget and repeating over a day or so should completely clear you up!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
