Is it wrong to remove the mould from the top of a jar of pesto and use the pesto underneath?!!

Question: Is it wrong to remove the mould from the top of a jar of pesto and use the pesto underneath!?!
Just wondered what people's opinions are on this !.!.!. almost everyone I know does it with jam, so I don't see the difference!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
the pesto underneath would be fine!. I do that with cheese!. Just cut off the moldy bit and use the rest!.

I freeze my pesto!. I add a little olive oil to it and mix it up, then I line the bottom of muffin tins with plastic wrap, pour the pesto into each tin and freeze it!. Then when its frozen you can take them out, wrap them in a little more plastic wrap, put them in a bag and stick back in the freezer!. Then when you want pesto you have little individual servings that you can just thaw in the fridge or microwave!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Its not the end of the world!. A way to keep pesto fresh though is to pour some olive oil into the jar after every use so that there is oil on top of the pesto!. This keeps it fresher for longer!. also just make sure that you wipe the rim of the jar before closing that also helps to preserve it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If it looks right and part of the pesto is moulding!.!.!.it's risky cause the mould could have reached its way to the bottom and working at it!.
But if you have no choice - go for it but drink lots of warm water afterwards to kill the mouldWww@FoodAQ@Com

Everybody knows you shouldn't, but hotels, restaurants and cafes do it all the time even though, like the rest of us, they won't admit it !Www@FoodAQ@Com

I don't do it with jam or pesto! But if that's what you do why not!Www@FoodAQ@Com
