Question: I have heard about how cows are fed and kept before being made into food = ( question below!?
I have heard of what the cows and chickens are fed before being made into food and the conditions they are kept in!. I think it really sucks and is unhealthy for both them and us!. I dont want to continue to eat meat like this, but I am unsure if organic meat means that it is still keeps the cows and chickens really packed and stuck togehter unhealthy ways or are they free to be roaming and fed what they were meant to eat!? Or does it just mean that keep them in the same bad conditions but dont feed them unhealthy stuff!? Sorry to ramble on I have just read a book about how the poor cows and chickens are kept and what terrible things they are fed and I dont want to continue eating that myself, but Im not sure if organic or if there is any other options!?

Free range chickens do get to wander!. They cost a bit more!. "Organic" is not a closely montiored word in packaging!. It usually means not-injected-with-hormones, but animals always get regular vaccinations!. It can mean they do not eat their own byproducts, such as organ meat and ground bone!. You have to research the producers and sources!.
Unfortunately, the execution of the animals is not really humane either!. Don't even read about it!. And never eat veal!.
There's another twist!. Raising, processing and distributing meat is not green in the least!.
I do eat meat, but I don't eat it very often!. I shop for locally grown produce and eat a lot of that!. Summer is the best!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Unfortunately you can never tell!. They're probably kept in the same horrible conditions whether or not they're allowed to!. The only safe option is to become a vegetarian!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Organic just means the animals are fed organic feed themselves (ie their food has not been treated with pesticides) and kept on land that has not been sprayed with pesticides!.

Look for stuff with the "freerange" label on it!. Sometimes you can get freerange *and* organic but not always!. But freerange generally means they have been given lots of space to roam and not clustered up together!. (i say *generally* because different farmers/producers have their own ideas on what is "fair treatment") but there are guidlines they have to follow so you should be fine with freerange!.

=)

EDIT: i agree actually become vegetarian its much better :D
I have been all my life!.!.!. although sometimes i eat fish!.!.!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
