Is it safe to eat soup out of a can that is dented or damaged?!

Question: Is it safe to eat soup out of a can that is dented or damaged!?
My mom just had a root canal, and she is drugged and zonked out!. She can only have soup, jello, or or any other soft foods for a few days!.
She wants Chicken Noddle for dinner, but the only can in the house is dented!.
I heard this is dangerous and could cause food poisoning!. Is this true!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Yes, it is PERFECTLY safe so long as there are no holes in the can,,, chicken noodle soup,,, you would know if there was a hole as most of the liquid would be gone and a fungus would be present inside along with a bad odor!.

what you heard is another in a very long line of urban myths as a dent will not affect the interior productWww@FoodAQ@Com

As long as it hasn't been opened at all it is probably fine!.
When you open it, notice if there is a strange odor, if there is anything unusual about the look of the product, if it makes a loud exploding sound, or the liquid has drained out through a tiny hole!.
Those would be the things that would scare me away!.
Otherwise, if it's just dented i would use it!.

Salutations,
I generally find cans in my house are dented because I dropped them, Yes I am a Klutz! but if I see a Dented or Damaged can in a store, I usually bring it to some ones Attention!. though if it just dented, and not rusty or anything you should be alright!. Hope your Mom feels better fast! When I have my teeth worked on I always have lots of Raman noodles in the house, this is the one thing I eat without discomfort!. CheersWww@FoodAQ@Com

Thats the general advisory on dented canned products!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Dented is O!.K!.
It's when the can bubbles out you have to be worried about botulism!. And that's not very common these days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Seems like your right!. My Dad worked for Del Monte and cans that were dented were tossed out for that reason!.The contents could be spoiled with air getting in!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

as long as not pierced and use by date has not expired it will be safe to use Www@FoodAQ@Com

The first post is correct!. I use my dented cans all the time!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

I wouldn't!. That's how people get food poisoning!.
