Question: Is the point of DRY ROASTING a nut to extract the oil!?
I have a friend who says that the bi-product of dry roasting a nut is to extract the oil!. Is this true!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

No the point of dry roasting nuts is to change the chemical compounds in the nut to deliver a different flavor then if you ate it raw, most nut oils are pressed from raw products using a heat pressing method to extract giving them a clean taste and high smoke points!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

true to some extent!. Dry roasting helps to bring out the oils or rather heat it up, so as to enhance its flavor!. Any spice or net has most of its flavor and aroma in its oils and by heating you are releasing all these fantastic flavors and smells!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
