Cooking/eating insects?!

Question: Cooking/eating insects!?
On Friday I was talking with a coworker when I saw a Japanese beetle flying around!. I mentioned that I hated those bugs!. He said they are harmless, and he said that he used to eat them back home, in the Philippines!. He also said he used to eat grasshoppers!. They catch the insects and cook them with onion and garlic!. I think he was kidding around, but could it be true!? Www@FoodAQ@Com
