Any VEGETARIANS out there??!

Question: Any VEGETARIANS out there!?!?
I'm 17, and seriously considering going vegetarian!. I tried it before, when I was 13, and it lasted for a few months because it became too difficult, although I forget why!.

I just wanted to hear from any vegetarians out there who think it's a good choice, if you could tell me why (weight loss, etc) and what you typically have for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!. If you have any good recipe websites, that would help a lot too!.

I don't eat beef or pork as it is, so I believe it's not a far-fetched goal!.

Thank you! Honesty appreciated :]Www@FoodAQ@Com

There is actually a vegetarian section on Yahoo Answers!.

I am vegan and have been for the past two years!. It's a good choice for me because I feel a little more healthy!. I lost 30 pounds initially and now I've maintained the same weight for the past year and a half!. Some people don't lose weight though because there is still a lot of junk food out there that is suitable for vegetarians!. You just have to eat right!. I also feel like I'm making a difference, however small, for the animals!. I haven't bought anything with animal products in the past two years!. One time I estimated how much I spent on meat, dairy, eggs, and other animal products every month!.!.!.it turns out that over two years I have taken more than 4,000 dollars away from the industry!. That feels very good!.

Being vegetarian or vegan is very simple as long as you have the moral backing to sustain it!. I think people who lack the moral issue with eating animals are more likely to fail!.

Anyway, here are some websites that I find useful:

No it's not a good choice!. Unless your overeating and have Burgers and Steaks everyday there is really no reason to not eat meat once in a while!. I mean whats the problem with it!? Meat has many needed nutrients and I assume it was difficult for you because instead of not eating meat at 13, you didn't know what to do and starved yourself!. Anyways, I see no real reason to change!. (Other then animal torture issues but that is much less of an occurrence then people think!.)Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I owned a few chickens last year, I was motivated to become a vegetarian and I only ate oatmeal, whole grain cereal, orange juice, milk, bananas, yogurt!. You have to make sure you get all the protein and iron you are neglecting due to not eating meat!. I would take multi-vitamins (not 100% iron, that can kill you) if you are still menstraeting i would take those vitamins!. Eat a lot of yogurt and drink milk!. Have vegetable soups, pizza, pasta, citrus fruits for lunch and dinner!.
Ask Whole Foods for more advice, that's what I did and they were a great help!.
GOOD LUCK!!
(thanks for answering my question)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Actually it's a myth that you will become slimmer than non-vegetarians!. If I ate lots of bread or pasta every day I could call myself a vegetarian but I would likely be very fat!. The protein that you consume when eating meat is filling, necessary for muscle health and growth and if it is lean it can be very healthy!. You don't need to eat a LOT of meat!. If you're going to cut out all meat you will need to think about how you're going to get your protein and iron!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gawd there are some idiots who don't answer the questions here!. My mom is veggie tarian, and she eats salads, rice, boca burgers and sausages which are amazing!. She also eat like tomatoes and a cheese with olive oil for a snack, apples, bananas, and smoothies for breakfast or some tea!. For lunch it is usually a salad, or sand which!. She puts goldfish on top of her salad for croutons, and she eats eggs too (if you might be going vegan or not)!. Good luck! (I have stopped eating steak, beef, and now I only eat chicken and seafood mostly)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i am a vegetarian i don't find it difficult at all!. i would say it is very good!. theres lots of healthy food and youre not going to eat like a big mac or anything, and you are saving the lives of animals!. just make sure you get enough protein!. beans and nuts have protein, and so does soy!. i eat tofu and drink soymilk!. there are lots of "mock meat" products available like veggie burgers and chik'n!. and you can eat any fruit or vegetables!. with all the great non meat foods available theres really no reason to eat food that used to have a life!.

Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being a vegetarian is very hard as you know from the past!. You must consume twice the amount of protien that you usually would!. I used to carry around a bag of almonds or peanuts!. You must do that if you want to remain healthy!. This being said, there wont be much wieght loss involved!. You will be eating alot of those things which have tons of calories!. So if you are just doing this to lose wieght, not such a good idea!. I used to have eggs and toast for breakfast, salad with tofu for lunch, and dinner varies!. I hope i could help!Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's a million times easier if you're not living with non-veggie parents, unless they'll try and help you!. BTW, weight loss is *not* a reason to be a veggie!. My reasons are just that I like animals better live than dead, to be totally honest!. But I don't judge other people for their choices!.

What do I eat!? Anything, but meat! Think about it!Www@FoodAQ@Com

are u trying to lose weight or u just wanna stay fit!?!? I'm not vegetarian but i suggests u don't have to force yourself to become a vegetarian!. just eat more veggies over meat!. if u don't wanna eat pork/beef, that's fine!. as long as u eat at least white meat chicken and fish!. raw foods (vegetables and fruits) are way better!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

YES! you should do it !.!. If you are doing it to fit in with the rest of the teens doing it then it won't be so convincing for yourself!. But think about the animals that face the cruelty just to make us happy, Watch this video you might change your mind!.!. http://www!.goveg!.com/factoryFarming_cows!.!.!.
I have been a vegetarian for almost 2 years now and I'm loving it! I feel so good about myself when it comes to me saving poor animals lives!. Try it! :-) Let me know how it works for you!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Why would you want to!? It's not any healthier, and if you don't eat meat at all!.!.!. it will stunt your growth, If you're doing because you are paranoid about eating animals, think of it this way!.!.!. the animal is dead anyway, so why let it's death go to waste in vain!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

i stopped eating meat almost a year ago!.!. just didnt want to eat it!.!. tasted funny to me and now anytime i try to eat any kind of meat except chicken i get wicked bad stomach aches!.!. my body cant break down the enzymes as easily as someone who eats meat on a daily basis!.

Its great better for your colon and much healthier
NOT TO MENTION THE ANIMALSWww@FoodAQ@Com

I don't think broth would be problem!. SOUPS!. Soup are very good when it comes to vegetables!. If you love mushrooms like me, I like to eat steak mushrooms grilled on the BBQ with other vegetables, slathored in sauce or not, up to you!. It gets me full and feeling good!. Spinach soup with a vegetable brouillon isn't bad, even better if you add in artificial crab flakes which are from fish, and then mushrooms, and TOFU!. tofu comes in many flavors and one of my favorites are smoked!. Delicious!. Kimchi is good, they even have kimchi soup, being a vegetarian sounds healthy and you will get your essential proteins!. I just can't give up a good steak once in a while and kfc sometimes(: A sauce for just vegetables baked or grilled plain or even steak that's just baked is some LIME juice because it's more citrusy than lemons, some salt, and add pepper for spice if you like!. I like using that sauce if there's a prok and vegetable soup, I like to pour it over the vegetables as well!. Delicious and simple!. Vegetables and fruits and tofu, nuts beans, go for it all!. Create the new! Good Luck!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Being a vegetarian has its good and its bad!. One of the thing you want to make sure is that even though you are a vegetarian you are still getting the vitamins, proteins, and carbs you need!. Yes I said carbs there is good carbs and bad carbs!. Eating a slice of pizza or two in a sitting gives you good carbs but eating 5 slices of pizza in one sitting will give you bad carbs (because you will be taking in more carbs than you are using which will in turn could lead to weight problems) I am not a vegetarian but at the beginning of the 2008 year I decided to give up all things pork and it has been one of the best things I have ever done!. What ever you choose do make sure your body is prepared for it giving up meat all at once can do a lot of harm to your body!. If you choose to give up meat ease it out of your diet!. If you eat 4 pieces of chicken this week, then eat 3 pieces next week, two the week after and so on!. What ever you choose to do, do it wisely and Good-luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

ive been a vegetarian since i was 7! (im 14 now)

i just eat normal, minus the meat, its really not that hard, i just ask people if there is meat in the food, and if there is eat something differant, the only time it gets hard is with things you wouldnt think have meat in them, ive had numerous marshmallow cravings, and jello too!.

there is a company called "morning star" they have really good veggie burgers, veggie ribs, veggie bacon (not the best, but okay), veggie ground beef, veggie ham, veggie hot dogs, veggie corndogs, veggie!.!. everything, they are a good price and everything tastes AMAZING (i dont like there bacon tho)

i am a vegatarian because i cant stand eating animals, ive tried, my mom made me a burger when i asked her (i was ready) (after 3 years), i was ready to eat it, but then i looked at it and all i saw was chopped up cow!. i barfed, lol

so yeah,

and also because they treat those animals HORRIBLY!! if you even know what they feed and inject into those chickens!.!. its sicknasty

hey! I'm 15 and I've been a vegetarian for 3 years! I'm a veg b/c I love animals and know they are EXTREMELY mistreated on factory farms!. If you love animals and are going veg for possibly this reason, I would check out the Humane Society!. http:/www!.hsus!.org!. This is a good website because it tells you the truth about how animals are treated without being too extreme (like Peta)!. For breakfast, I'll usually have a cereal that is high in iron and a piece of fruit!. For lunch, I usually have something high in protein like something with peanut butter or kidney beans or any type of nuts since I'm an athlete and need my energy during the day!. For dinner, I like pastas, veggie burgers, anything really!. (You do need carbs and most vegetarians do eat pasta)!. Throughout the day, I eat lots and lots of veggies and fruits!. Hope I helped! I hope you go through with it!!! Www@FoodAQ@Com

I lived as a vegetarian for many years, and found that the only reason I found it hard to maintain was the availability of good, vegetarian food on campus when I was a student!. The vegetarian offerings on airlines, at cafe's etc was pretty pathetic!. Some places assume that vegetarian means 'no taste'!.
So that's why I found it hard!. also, I was in a good place financially for a while when I was vegetarian and found that I got a lot from eating organic fruit and vegetables!. They are tastier and contain far more nutrients than their non-organic counterparts!. Unfortunately, they are also more expensive, so harder to maintain, especially when you are on a budget!.
also, make sure you have regular check-ups so that if you have any sort of vitamin/mineral deficiency as a result of ceasing to eat certain foods, it will be caught and dealt with as soon as possible!.
Vegan living is a lot harder than vegetarian living, and is a delicate balance to maintain!. I have had a few friends that have gotten really sick from being vegan for that reason, because they didn't really know what was available to them!. And if you're vegan, you can forget just walking into a shop and purchasing something to eat!.!.!.there is no commercially available vegan food!.
So think about it, keep your health in check and do what's right for you!. Good luck!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
