How can I cut down on my grocery bill?!

Question: How can I cut down on my grocery bill!?
My husband and I really need to start paying off medical bills, an old student loan, and prepare for buying a car for him and getting an apartment furnished and rent and bills have to be paid!.!.!.the normal things of life!.

Only problem is, I can't work right now due to an eye injury, so we are living off only his income!. Now, he's currently deployed to Iraq, so isn't spending a whole lot, but I've been spending about $150-200 a week!.

Breakdown of this:
-$50 to a once-a-week personal assistant who drives me to the grocery store, bank, etc (I cannot drive, and have no one to help me with grocery shopping and the like without her)
-$100 groceries (I'll give an example grocery list below!.!.!.I think $100 is horrible for groceries, this is what I want to cut down the most)
-$10-50 - misc!., this could be cigarettes to send to my husband, little things to go in his care pacakges, and I eat out (fast food, ~$10) once a week ONLY

Below, I will give a grocery list example!.!.!.what kind of things can I do to reduce the cost of groceries!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
i know its not gonna be fun but u have to simplify a little!. ok start with breakfast!.!.!.!.

things to take out of the trolley
*poptarts
*breakfast pockets
*bagels
put a cheap cereal in the trolley that will last all week or maybe more!. add things like bananas or other cheap fruits to make it interesting or have toast on cheap bread with spread

ok lunch!.!.!.stick with one kind of bread (either wraps or loaf)
with one kind of meat (chicken or turkey, not both)
salads!.!.!.!. ditch the can of olives and mushrooms and the jar of relish, croutons (make croutons from last weeks stale bread)

instead of grated cheese get a block and grate in yourself its cheaper!. instead of 8 small tubs or yoghurt buy a large tub!. it is only you who is eating it!.

that should save u a fair bit of money already!. u have to learn to sacrifice!. only get icecream every 2 weeks and things like that!. me and my partner only spend $70 a week on food and that covers both of us all week!. we dont get takeaway its too expensive!. goodluck with paying off all your bills!. life wasnt meant to be easy was it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Use coupons and buy non-brand name foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Well, I say don't go cheep by buying unhealthy food!. Instead, since you have more time on your hands, buy more raw ingredients and make things from scratch!.

also, look out for sales - then stock up if you can!.

Don't go for brand name stuff, just get what is on sale!. Usually generic is about the same as brand name anyway!.

also, avoid rdy made food!. I have a feeling that this is where you spend te most money!.

Don't buy Yoplay, get tubs of generic yogurt -it is cheeper that way too much sugar in yoplay anyway!.

You don't need poptarts - basically, junk food is a waste of money because there is not much nutritional value therefore it is just edible recreation!.

Keep the icecream - comfort food is important!.

Instead of shreded cheese, buy blocks!. Shred it yourself!.

You get the idea!. You may have to do more cooking, but it can be fun!. Potatoes and pasta go a long way!. Learn to make your own sauce!.

I probably spend about $200 - 250 a month on groceries for two people and I eat pretty healthy!.

I hope yor eye gets better soon and your financial situation improves!.
