Can you freeze goat cheese?!
I'm giving up cow's milk for digestive reasons, and i LOVE cheese!. I used to go to the grocery store, by like 4 or 5 blocks of regular cheese and freeze it until I needed it!. Now I'll be switching to goat cheese and soy products, and I'm wondering if I can still buy 4 or 5 blocks of goat cheese and freeze it!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

From my experience, I have been freezing cheese for years and it always comes out fresh and good tasting!. Goat cheese is a favorite of mine, it will not hurt to freeze it!. But keep in mind that just like other items, if it is in there to long it could get frost bite and taste that way!. That would take several months!. Oh, you should put it in a zip=lock bag it makes it last longer!. And if you ever wonder about items to freeze, the best way to learn is to just try it once and see how it turns out!. :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Depends which ones( though none have to be froze)!.
For one thing, never freeze soft, fresh goat cheeses, the consistency will change and they will form ice crystals!.
Jaquin of France makes some of the finest soft goats!.

The enemy of soft goat cheeses is of course cling wrap!.
These cheeses must breath in order not to go bad( and they won't if you don't smoother them with saran wrap!.
Jaquin soft goat cheeses start off snow white and start forming an edible mold( which is desirable)!.
On the other hand we have soft goat that come in cryovac( tube shaped)!.
When those get mouldy that mold is not desirable( even though it won't make you ill), it won't taste good and those will spoil( but they're commercial and not very good!. More like cream cheese)!.
Hard goat cheeses such as goat cheddars, Midnight Moon,Drunken Goat etc etc, can be wrapped!. They will however( in most cases form mold which just has to be scraped off)!.
I would never freeze any goat cheese!. It's not necessary, it serves no purpose and it changes the texture and taste of the cheese!.
