Question: What's that crusty edge on eggs we see after cooking them on a frying pan!? I heard it's metal from the pan!?
You know those crusty edges on the cooked eggs that seem to magically appear after cooking!? It looks a little brown and crispy and transparent to the eye!? I heard a long time ago it's actually from the metal pan and not actually from egg!. That it's actually a layer of metal that absorbs into the egg then making it noticable!. Is this true!. And if so, should we be eating that!? Www@FoodAQ@Com

When I cook eggs on my Teflon pan the same **** happens, becuase I cook the eggs hard, I would say its just golden because of the fat and the oil burning around the edges!. The same thing happens when you fry french fries in a pan and other things, the crispy stuff is just burned more!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think it is just some of the egg white!.maybe a long time ago I would agree that it could be metal but with all the teflon on the pans I doubt it!.I have been wondering what that white stuff is in the egg just like a slimy lump on the yoke or beside it!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

That is actually just really thin pieces of egg!. If it was from the pan then it would happen to all things you cooked on it not just eggs!. Its where the white part of the egg wasnt as thick so it gets cooked more thoroughly then the rest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

You know it is not the pan
Otherwise you would wear it out
There is no chemical action to do that!.
You just been made a fool of
sorry No intention to insult!.!.?
EDIT
Psst reduce the heat down to like 120ofWww@FoodAQ@Com

It's just a bit burnt!. You get the same effect from a teflon coated pan as a metal one!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's not metal!. It's part of the egg!. Pay attention next time you fry eggs!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I always thought it was burnt egg stuck to the pan!.!.b/c if it was from the pan I would think it would be noticeable when I made other thingsWww@FoodAQ@Com
