Why is fruit that you don't wash bad for you?!
What could be the consequences if you don't wash!.!. let's say an apple and eat it with the skin!. Need it for homework and I can't find it! Www@FoodAQ@Com

It isn't necessarily "bad" for you but it can have bad side effects!. Part of the reason they tell you to wash them before eating is because there can be pesticide residue on them which can be harmful if ingested!. The other reason is pretty obvious if you think about it!. Simple germs!. You're not the only person to handle the fruit before you eat it!! It gets handled by sometimes hundreds of people (who may or may not have clean hands and/or wear gloves) as well as machines!. For that reason, even organic foods should be washed!. It also ensures the best possible flavour!. But I doubt you'd have any serious side effects if you ate fruit without washing it!. You might end up sick for a day or so at the worst!Www@FoodAQ@Com
There could be insecticide residue on the fruit that you get!. The main reason is all the other people that have touched that piece of fruit before you did!. Improper hand washing and germs could make you sick if you eat them!. I think that has more to do with washing fruit than anything so even organic fruit needs to be washed!.

Unless it's organic, it's more than likely been sprayed with insecticides and pesticides, e!.t!.c!. Having said that, I have to admit to not being that vigilant about washing every piece of fruit that passes my lip's!. So far I seem to be okay!. I guess it depends how much you decide your body is a "temple"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
I think because of insecticides that are sometimes used!.I really doubt anything serious would happen!.It's basically good practice to wash all fruits and vegetables before consuming!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
