Is this piece of steak "ok" to eat?!

Question: Is this piece of steak "ok" to eat!?
Hi,

I've had some steak that was cooked two days ago!. It wasn't all eaten so we put the leftover in the refrigerator!.

Its now two days later, and I am wondering if it is "ok" to heat it up again and eat it, or would I be risking Salmonella poisoning!?!?

Informed help would be appreciated!. Thanks !!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Hi,

You will be fine eating this steak!.

Refrigeration is the deciding factor as to whether cooked meat is safe to eat!. For example, if you cooked the meat, left it out for the day, and THEN put it in the fridge at the end of the day, I would recommend that you discard the meat!.

However, if you cooked the meat, and then put the rest in the fridge, it will be fine!.

Of course, it is necessary to make sure that your fridge is below 4 degrees, since ANY refrigerated food is in the "danger zone" if it is above 5 degrees!.

In terms of the length of time that you can keep refrigerated meat (including cooked meat), 4 days is the maximum!. After that, definitely discard it, no matter what (even if it looks good) !!Www@FoodAQ@Com

you will be fine
you are not worried about salmonella you are worried about ecoli
but in steaks ecoli risk is low
ecoli is created when the butchers that cut up the steer accidentally cut the intestines of steer and it mixes with the good meat and when making chopped meat it mixes

Yes it's fine; eat that steak! If you had left it out all day then I would suggest throwing it away!. But, as long as you all did refrigerate it then it's fine!. I would not eat food over 4 days after cooking even if it had been refrigerated!.

Hope I helpedWww@FoodAQ@Com
