After we got hit by Hurricane Gustov, they reported about this same problem on the tv!. They said that food will last about 4 to 6 hours depending on how cold you kept the fridge/freezer and how much was in it!. I don't suggest eating anything in the fridge since it has been 24 without power even though the fridge hasn't been opened unless it is something like water or anything that will not spoil!. Anything dairy or meat based is probably on it's way to being bad!. This includes most salad dressings with the exception of oil based vinaigrette's, mayo and anything that says "refrigerate after opening"!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
If you have not opened the fridge it is probably still OK!. However, since it has been 24 hours, I would suggest getting the milk and lunch meat out and putting it on ice!. If you have a deep freeze (separate unit not on fridge) the frozen food will stay cold longer!. Just don't open it up !. The more full the freezer is, the longer it will stay frozen!. For frozen food, your ice cream and ice will be the first to melt in the freezer!. The meat and frozen food will stay frozen the longest and help everything else stay frozen!.
I would definitely be thinking about removing the stuff in the fridge though!.
Good luck with the power situation!. Hopefully it will be back on real soon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Your getting close to losing your food!.
You can smell then taste the milk!.If the milk smells bad don't taste it!.
If it smells ok,then you can taste the milk!. If it tastes bad get rid of it!.
Don't swallow the milk when tasting!.
Lunch meat and yogurt can be tested the same way!.
All should have been put on ice in an ice chest as soon as possible after power was lost!.
If you had a chest type freezer (1 that has a lid that raises up) they could have been placed in there and they would stay cold longer since the chest would hold the cold air better than 1 that opens up like a refrigerator!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
