Why did food prices go up so high?!

Question: Why did food prices go up so high!?
Answers:
As someone said it is cause fuel is so expensive!. Most food is shipped by trucks in the US!. They are gas hogs!. Funny note, Diesel fuel was once the cheapest because it is less refined!. Once gas rose so high & people drove less diesel prices became the most expensive!. The oil companies are gouging the trucking industry knowing that the trucks must continue to transport fuel!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Inflation is one answer, but there's another simple one: gas prices!. Those big trucks eat up a lot of gas!. Some of that cost is for delivery (most of our food these days isn't grown locally), but some is even earlier than that: food manufacturers have to pay more to get their ingredients shipped to them!. And they pass that lack-of-savings right on to you!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

it costs more to ship food from farm to warehouse/cannery and then from there to stores!. it also costs more to produce foods, all due to higher gas prices that fuel the farm machinery, trucks, etc!. Even warehouseing costs more in energy costs to heat or cool foodstuffs!. Its a vicious circle!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Gasoline prices went up so in order to deliver the food to stores then someone has to pay the gasoline which is us as consumers in the end so they raise grocery prices to cover the grocery store invoices of delivery Www@FoodAQ@Com

It's because of the gas prices!. Food gets to us by means of truck, train, boat and plane all of which take fuel!. Not to mention the farm equipment needed for planting , plowing and harvesting!. And of course the factories which need fuel to heat, etc!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

they went higher because the prices of everything are going higher so to keep up with times and not go bankrupt they have to raise their pricesWww@FoodAQ@Com

It's because of gas, the higher the gas then higher the food!. Cars need gas 2 ship it right!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Seasonal foods also go up higher when its not their season but i think gas is the main reasonWww@FoodAQ@Com

Gas prices rose, trucks need gas in order to transport the food, so food prices rise!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because of gas / diesel costs!. Hard to make a profit when you're paying $4-$5 a gallon!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
