Put a slice of bread or apple in it, or use a terra cotta sugar disk!. I store mine in plastic heavy-duty zippered bags (not in the freezer, lol) and no longer need to do anything to it!. It stays moist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I make my own brown sugar and I keep it in a zippered plastic bag with all the air squished out!. However because I make my own mine doesn't usually get hard because I make it as I need it!. It is very easy to make---
1 cup of white Sugar to 2 tablespoons of molasses!. Use more or less molasses to make the brown sugar darker or lighter to your preferences!.

Brown sugar is almost inevitably going to harden, though if you put it in an airtight container and put it in the freezer, it will store much longer!. When you wish to use it, bring it out and it will thaw very quickly You may have to break it up a little bit but it will still be moist!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I keep my brown sugar in the freezer!. It takes a minute or two to become very soft and then I measure it and pop it back in the freezer!. I have been doing this for years and have had no problems!. If you don't want to do that, then you might want to put in some terra cotta bears (made for this purpose) at a local kitchen store!. I put one in each of my sugar cannisters and salt cannister also!. No more lumps or hardening!. They're pretty inexpensive, about $2!.50 each!. It comes with directions too as sugars and salts differ!. Hope that helps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Www@FoodAQ@Com
