I am a doctor and I lost 120 pounds through diet and exercise -- when eating healthfully and low-calorie, here are three things I would eat freqently:
1!. I would make homemade salads (baby spinach, chopped red pepper, celery, carrot, 1/2 an apple, with boneless chicken breast meat for protein);
2!. microwave a red potato and steam some fresh broccoli, and then open up the potato, top with salsa and broccoli and 1/4 cup of shredded cheese on top (microwave for a minute or two to melt the cheese);
3!. and my famous turkey chili recipe:
Dr!. Jen's Turkey Chili
Olive oil cooking spray
6 oz chopped onion (1 C)
6 oz chopped bell peppers* (1 ? C)
4 cloves garlic, minced (1 rounded T)
4 T chili powder
20 oz (raw) lean ground turkey** (7% fat)
2 large (28oz) cans diced tomatoes in juice
1 small (15oz) can black beans, rinsed and drained
1 small (15oz) can kidney beans, rinsed and drained
Heat a large pot or dutch oven over low, and coat bottom with olive oil cooking spray (about 2 seconds)!. Add onions and bell peppers and cook, stirring occasionally, several minutes until soft (keep covered to minimize water loss and prevent burning)!. Stir in garlic and cook for 1 minute, until fragrant!. Empty into a bowl and set aside!. In empty pot, add ground turkey and increase heat to medium!. Cook until no longer pink!. Add chili powder and cook for 1-2 minutes, then add back onion and peppers and stir!. Stir in tomatoes with juice and beans, then cover!. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat to low and simmer, covered, for 20-30 minutes to meld flavors!.

*peppers – I like to chop up Trader Joe's "Mélange a Trois" (bag of green, red, and yellow peppers in the freezer section)
**turkey – I used Jennie-O brand because the package size is always 20 oz!. To decrease calories and fat a bit, you can drain and then rinse the cooked turkey before adding the chili powder

Healthy for me is watching fat, so!. Stuff we eat a lot of: Salads, greens (not iceberg) w/ carrots, broc!., onions, whatever vegies we have!. Sometimes add grilled chicken or steak w/ lite asian or italian dressing!. Lots of grilled chicken, I change the marinade so it doesn't get boring!. Kraft Lite Asian Seseme rocks!. Stir Fry w/ rice or noodles!. I use frozen vegies, unless I'm really in the mood to cook, beef or chicken, & make my own sauce!. Frozen french fries, I put them in a bowl, drizzle w/ olive oil & seasonings & bake them!. Bag of frozen vegies, microwave w/ olive oil, seasoning and a little butter!. I eat this when hubby is gone!. Meatless red sauce on pasta!. Hamburger Helper w/ no hamburger!. Grilled fish!. Carrots and lite ranch!.
We do ok!. But I'm a southern girl & there are times when I have to have country fried steak & gravy!. Well anythign w/ gravy!Www@FoodAQ@Com
