Answers:
They are bits of mechanically recovered fish with crab flavouring!. They are the economy sausage of the fish world!. They can be eaten with disdain, disgust or Lidl's own brand ketchup!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
they are crab meat, mixed with some chemicals (you can get them 100% crab ut the cheaper ones have added colours and stuff in them), which are then compressed into little rectangular blocks!.
Some people eat them in crunchy bread rolls, some people eat thm on thier own, some people dip them in sauce:eg tartar sauce, mayonaise, cocktail sauce!.!.!.etc, some people chop them up and have them in salads!.!.!.!. they are quite vertile in that way, but trust me, don't eatmore then thrin one sitting, especially if they have added crap in hem, as they can very quickly become very sicklyWww@FoodAQ@Com

They're usually pollock or cod, that's artificially colored and flavored to somewhat resemble crab!. They don't taste very good, and you need to really disguise that flavor in some sauce or something - and it still doesn't work well!. They're ok to keep in the freezer for an emergency meal, but I wouldn't purposely plan a menu around them!. In fact, my daughter is allergic to something that's in there (there's artificial flavorings and preservatives in there)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Not so much the sausage of the fish world more like the economy sausage roll, just pure crap!. They're a Japanese invention, a quick convenience snack maybe a bit like beef jerky not so much in taste or texture but as a quick solid meat/fish based snack for sustenance without need for cooking!. All you do is defrost and eat, no point wasting good energy trying to cook them or wasting good money on garnishing them!. I personally think they're disgusting!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
ah the old crab sticks, this was a medieval game played amongst peasant fisher folk, when the catch had been taken away to market, ie; the fish, the boat was then cleaned!. obviously shells, weed, and crustaceans would still be on the deck, and for amusement, and no doubt a small wager the peasants would choose a crab each, and set them against each other!. they would arm them with small cocktail stick like spears, which were later to be known as crab sticks, these were fashioned from scrimshaw, and were prizes in their own right!. the feisty crustaceans would lead the peasants on a merry dance around the deck, their prodding and thrusting bringing loud cheers from all assembled, the record time for such a fight is 7 hours 23minutes, which was won by a swimmer crab affectionately known as buster, his shell still adorns the fireplace at the scrotum arms public house in margate!. it has been said, but no proof survives, that the game of crab sticks was a forerunner to medieval jousting!. but i think thats a bit far fetched personally!. as for eating crab sticks, well you must be insane, go get a burger or something!. good luck, alan, brighton ukWww@FoodAQ@Com
I quite like them, but they're not to everyone's taste!. In the UK, they're basically mashed-up fish and other seafoods, with a crab-flavouring, which are extruded into stick-shapes, given a red-colouring on one side with cochineal (from beetles!) It's very rare to find a 'crabstick' with crab in them!.
What do they taste of!? Well, fishy in a sort of slightly sweet way!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Crab sticks are usually left over white fish flavoured with a crab flavouring and then packed together into sticks!.I eat them just as they are,as a snack!.They are very mild in flavour and a cheaper way of eating bits of fish, although not good quality but perfectly okey!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
They are sticks of mashed "fish" products and are battered, breadcrumbed and fried!. You can eat them with dipping sauces and fries!. They do have a sweet kind of taste and taste nothing like crab!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Like anything, some are better than others,so you might have to taste a lot to find a brand you like!.
To me they're nothing special!.Just eat them as they are!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
