Yes that is exactly what I am doing right now!. Since being all veggie doesn't really work with me I chose pork and beef to be cut out of my diet and I am doing pretty well without them!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Rather than thinking about eliminating foods, why don't you do some research on ways to cook things without meat!. There are many more grains and vegetables than kinds of meat, so your diet should become much more diversified than with meat, but it will take you time to get used to new quick-fix meals which don't use meat!. You will also have to do some research to ensure you get enough protein and iron in the diet, so you need to eat more whole grains and mix rice with lentils and things like that!.
Rather than eliminating pork and beef, I would cut out all fatty meats, which includes some kinds of chicken (eg nuggets or wings) or fatty cuts of meat!. That's because much of the taste of meat comes from the fat!. So if you gradually cut down on fatty meat, the flavour will go and you will discover and get used to vegetables and grains more!.
Once you eliminate all types of red meat (beef), you will have to eat more foods that contain iron, or help the body to metabolise iron, such as certain nuts, dried apricots, whole grain cereals!.
Try recipes using quinoa, barley, polenta, different types of lentils, and try lots of new vegetables and flavourings, such as fresh nuts, herbs, lemon, ginger, garlic and chilli!.
Rather than thinking about leaving things out of your diet, consider adding to your cooking repertoire!. If your vegetarian food is more exciting you won't miss meat!.
also, don't worry about having a small piece of meat now and then!. I don't think it matters whether it's beef, pork or chicken!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
