Why is it ok to eat rare steak, but not rare porkchop or chicken?!
Is not blood, blood!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
Answers:
It has nothing to do with blood, it has everything to do with microscopic parasites and bacteria in the meat itself!. Raw chicken meat is filled with salmonella bacteria, which is killed by the heat of cooking!. Pork carries salmonella, listeria, other bacteria in addition to the eggs of parasitic worms; all of which are killed by thorough cooking!. There are many cuts of beef on the other hand that are surprisingly free of bacteria, provided it is handled correctly while being cut and delivered to the consumer!. It's still best to be sure that beef is heated all the way through, just in case!. Blood is not the culprit!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
Chicken:
For starters, approximately 30 percent of chicken is tainted with Salmonella and 62 percent with its equally virulent cousin, Campylobacter!.
Time magazine calls raw chicken "one of the most dangerous items in the American home," and each year in the US alone, contaminated chicken kills at least 1,000 people while sickening as many as 80 million others!.

Pork:
Pigs carry retroviruses, flu viruses, and parasite tapeworms!. Do you really want to fill your body up with diseases and toxins!? As long as you eat pork that is exactly what you are doing!.
Parasites invade most meat, and while most people know that salmonella comes with undercooked chicken, people don't generally realize that trichinella parasites come with pork!. also, the chances of getting sick from undercooked pork are probably slightly higher than with undercooked chicken!.
A little bit of pink near the bone isn't too bad, but try to minimize it as much as possible!.

Good question - I eat my steak medium rare!. As long as you hit the recommended temps in the thickest part of the meat, you're fine!. I don't like ANY meat well done but I make sure it's cooked!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
Blood is blood, but salmonella does not grow in beef or pork!.
Pork can be eaten medium-rare, although I prefer it well done!.
I do love a rare filet mignon though!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
