Why Is There A Legal Issue With Horse Meat?!

Question: Why Is There A Legal Issue With Horse Meat!?
Some states have horse meat legal and others you cannot have it!. Why is that so!?

Is it based on health reasons; is horse meat bad!? Or is it the same issue with dogs and cats that you do not eat domesticated animals!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

FDA thing, the meat isn't controlled or inspectedWww@FoodAQ@Com

Despite the fact that horse meat is widely eaten by Europeans and Asians, the vast majority of Americans have no interest in taking a bite out of Old Paint!. Since no U!.S!. horses are raised for that purpose, they only come to the meat market as castoffs: old, sick, too unruly to ride or genetically deficient!. Because horses are not regulated as meat animals, the process by which they are slaughtered is fraught with cruelty!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Personally I think that the majority of horses in the States are not domesticated!. Therefore, they should be legal to hunt and eat as we do with deer!.
I am often in Europe and horse meat is eaten!.!.!. and I have no issues with it!. I used to watch "My Friend Flicka" too!.!.!. but have also seen Bambi and know that many of you (gun carrying hunters) eat deer too!.
