What is a real snack, and what really means?!

Question: What is a real snack, and what really means!?
Ok, here is the thing, I have three kids (3, 7 & 8 ) and every time they want a snack they think about some thing with lots of sugar on it!. I always tell them that they need to eat a fruit before they go after the the bag of crackers, chips or granola bars!. I try not to buy sugary thing, but I do it to have some thing sweet once in a while, which I think is ok but my kids are hungry all the time and I don't know what to do or how to make them eat some thing more nutritious and how to control their eating habits!. help please!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Sweets should be labeled "A TREAT" not to be confused with "A Snack"!.
Definition is:
Traditionally snacks were prepared from ingredients commonly available in the home, often leftovers, sandwiches made from cold cuts, nuts, fruit, and the like!.
A snack in in Western culture is a type of food not meant to be eaten as a main meal of the day – breakfast, lunch, or dinner – but one rather that is intended to assuage a person's hunger between these meals, providing a brief supply of energy for the body!. The term may also refer to a food item consumed between meals purely for the enjoyment of its taste!.

I think 1/2 a sandwich or few cookies or a peice of fruit like banana, apple, grapes etc!. or even veggies, carrots, n ranch dip would be a good snack!. then occasionally a "sweet treat" would be good, maybe in the mornings when they need more energy!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Sweets are considered treats, not snacks!. A snack is something such as fruit, a small cut sandwich, you get the idea!. Explain to your children that these sweets are only to be given every once in a while!. Besides, they have to eat what you give to them anyways, right!? Www@FoodAQ@Com
