Maybe there's an untapped market there!. Take some crumpets over the channel!. You'll make a fortune!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think they have another name, when i was reading a recipe book recently they called it a pancake!

According to wikipedia, it is fundamentally a pancake but made with yeast and often called a 'Scotch Pancake', 'Pikelet' or 'Scots Crumpet' in other countries

:)

ADD: not according to wikipedia and the Cook book i read!

i do know what a traditional scotch pancake is, but some things have the same names!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Because croissants are nice and crumpets suck maybe!. They are like rubbery dough and have a strange acidic taste!. Croissants are lovely soft buttery flakes of delicious pastry!. A more important issue is why they do not sell muffins, proper English muffins not those ridiculous over grown cup cakes that the Americans like and call inappropriately, as they are the most delicious thing especially spread thickly with butter or strong matured Cheddar cheese!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The French are wonderful people, but they have to hang on to their hatred of the English!. Surely you won't deny them that! It's a big part of their culture!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

The French are clever!. Crumpets are hard and don't actually digest!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Maybe the UK have a more open attitude towards non-traditional food!? It's their loss, I say!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I think you'll find there's plenty of crumpet in FranceWww@FoodAQ@Com
