Depending on how they are cooked!.!.!.!.they can be very similar!. I actually make these soups often in the winter!. My pasta e fagioli is thicker than my minestrone!. It also has a large amount of white beans and ditalini and I start with a base of finely chopped carrots and celery!. Some people cook it with a ham bone!. I do not!. My minestrone has alot more vegetables in it and is waterier than my pasta and bean soup!. My pasta and bean soup has more of a bean soup flavor and my minestrone has more of a tomato flavor!. It's just the way I make them!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Pasta e Fagoli and plainer bean and pasta soup, Minestrone is made 2 ways either Naples style or Tuscan style, it varies with one using pasta and the other beans, the other ingredients are much the same!.

It is like the 2 bread based soups, one is a bean and stock based the other is a tomartoey one with more garlic and thicker also!. Fagoli is usually romano beans, were with minestrone it can be canneli, white kidney, dried fava or romano beans, it is up to the cook and regional variation it might be!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

i don't how do you prepare minestrone and pasta e fagioli, whose common variant is with chick pea pasta e ceci!.so i speak about the italians recipes!.
anyway as far as i by what my mother does, I can say that :
they are both minestre (vegetable soups )
in minestrone main ingredients are onions, celery, spinach, carrots, peas!. beans, potato kale cabbage and so on; but all in the same amount !.!. additional ingredients can chestnut and red wine pasta (common or special one ie: local) pumpkin!. as you like thick or not food processed or not with pasta but none of them really prevail!.
pasta and fagioli is mainly made with beans, prevailing, With few leaf vegetables, and fresh tomato (not tomato sauce)!. the thickness is given by the amount of pasta you add !.

hope i was help full in someway arrivederci
pasta e fagioli means only that you coock a minestra in which you add pasta ( usually broken spaghetti) after vegetables are cooked properly!. that's it no Marinara sauce sorry
