How can I store apples for longer?!
Hi my grandad is inundated with apples both cooking and eating!. I have stewed some of the cookers but don't really have any more room in my freezer!. Does anyone know how I can store them so that they will keep as it is such a waste if they are left to rot!. ThanksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Here's the right way to do it!
1!. Handle apples gently to prevent bruising!.
2!. Store apples in a plastic bag in the crisper section of your refrigerator!. This will maintain the right temperature and humidity level to keep the apples crisper and juicier longer!.
3!. Store away from foods with strong odors!. Apples are porous and will absorb strong food odors!.
4!. Do not store apples with vegetables such as leafy greens, broccoli, cabbage or cauliflower!. Apples give off a gas that will damage them!.
5!. The gas that apples produce will also speed up the ripening of other fruits such as bananas, kiwis, peaches, pears and plums when stored together
6!. Store them no longer than six weeksWww@FoodAQ@Com

Choose only "perfect" apples with no bruises - remember that old saying about one bad apple spoiling the whole bunch!. Wrap each apple in a piece of newspaper and pile them into a box!. Store in a cool place like garage, basement or under the porch!. Check them occasionally to see that they haven't rotted or had mouse-like visitors!.
