Nutrient dense foods are foods with a lot of nutrients per calorie!.
Some examples are berries which have a lot of anti-oxidants, yet not so many calories!. They are also usually high in fiber and help you feel full longer, so they're great to help someone lose weight!.
Tomatoes are also pretty good because they have a lot of lycopene which is an anti-oxidant!.
Tea (Especially green tea) is high in anti-oxidants and has no calories unless you add sugar!.
Legumes (beans and peas) are also usually pretty good!. They have a lot of nutrients and a lot of nearly complete protein!. They aren't quite as low in calories, but they have a lot of fiber which slows the absorption of calories and makes you feel full longer!. They are also usually pretty high in iron!.
Spinach and other leafy greens are high in foliate which significantly lowers birth defect occurances!.
Because these foods are usually relatively lower in calories for the nutrition that they offer, they are easy to add to a diet!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

We eat food to give us energy, but also to give the body the building blocks to build and repair tissues, and to keep everything running smoothly!. For this, we need vitamins and minerals, proteins and polyphenols, and a whole lot of other things!. Foods like potato chips and sugary cakes are often described as "empty calories": they contain lots of energy, but not much of the other things we need to eat!. Foods like fruit, vegetables and lean meat and fish have much more of a variety of healthy stuff (nutrients) in them, so they are called "nutrient dense"!.
Remember, there is no such thing as an unhealthy food, just an unhealthy diet!. Eat a variety of foods and take a good multivitamin supplement just to top up the things you're still missing!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
