Storage of Canned Food?!

Question: Storage of Canned Food!?
I heard a long time ago that you shouldn't store canned food in its original container (the can) because it would release something from the can in to the food!.
Can someone help me find out if this is indeed true and can cause hazard!?

Answers:
As long as the can has not been opened it's ok to store in the can!. In fact it is best since there is not oxygen in the can to cause off flavors!. After you open a can, it's better to empty the contents!. This is because especially with acid foods like fruits the acid can react with the steel in the can if the lining is breached!. It won't hurt for a day or two if you put it in the refrigerator, but for longer terms empty the can!.

By the way, the food in the can will retain quality better if you keep the cans at a constant temperature!. Doesn't have to be cold just cool and constant!.
