What is the purpose of chef hats?!
I know they look cool, but is there a technological reason for those poofy white hats to be, well, poofy and white!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

There are several reasons for the hats!.
1!. Keep hair out of the food being prepared!.
2!. So workers in the kitchen can distinguish the "chef" from other workers!. You notice the head chef has the tallest hat or Toque as it is called!.
3!. It does keep the head a bit cooler than other head wear!. The height allows air flow!.

People who prepare and/or handle foods should wear a hat or hair net!. This keeps hairs from dropping into the foods!.In a restaurant, cooks and chefs wear hats!. The height of the hat denotes rank in a kitchen!.
