Salisbury Steak, Turkey, Fried Chicken, !
Actually came about as an accidental solution to a BIG problem!.
An executive at Swanson grossly overordered turkey for thanksgiving and ended up with 10 railcars of 520,000 each of turkeys not purchased!.
He had seen the tin trays used on airlines and got the idea to cook the turkeys and package them in individual meals!. Selling for 98 cents!
He took a gamble, and it paid off!. It became their most successful variety of an iconic meal! Selling MILLIONS!Www@FoodAQ@Com

Anyone & everyone who was a kid back then probably remembers
them quite well!. I remember that the tv dinners didn't always taste
like they were supposed to!. I always had to add a little butter to the
mashed potatoes to make them taste right!. Since than, they improved
on the quality of tv dinners, thank God for small favors!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Yep, I remember them, the turkey was ok, a little dry!. The Salisbury steak was pretty good, and yep had to add a little butter and it made it taste better!. Some had a little apple cobbler, it was pretty good!. I remember the pot pies too,lot of gravy, not much meat!. But that was OK cause the meat was pretty dry!.
I don't think they were 98 cents though, I'm remembering more like maybe 49 cents, 29 cents on sale!. This would have been in the mid 60's!.
Stouffer's frozen foods really started the change in frozen foods!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
