I'm 25 weeks pregnant and used it to cook an eggo in the toaster over and it tasted funny!.!.!. I just thought I burnt it!. But than I looked and it said to wash the metal tray before use, could there be harmful chemicals on the tray that could harm me or the baby!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Was this a brand new toaster!? If so there's likely something on that tray that wouldn't taste very good!. I highly doubt it would cause any harm to you or your baby in those tiny amounts, but it would taste funny!.

If it was not a new toaster and has been used for a while, then the change in taste might just have something to do with your pregnancy!.

Either way, wash the tray and see it the next one tastes funny too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

No, most toasters are made of aluminum or stainless steel, and heating them wouldn't give off harmful chemicals!. You may be experiencing changes in your taste perception and becoming more acute at detecting the chemicals that are in the Eggo waffles!. Try a more natural waffle without preservatives and things you can't pronounce and see if you taste a difference!. But the toaster is fine to use!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

If you are worried about chemicals then why not toast everything in your oven set on broiler for a few min!?Www@FoodAQ@Com
