How do bananas ripen peaches?!

Question: How do bananas ripen peaches!?
My wife has discovered that peaches ripen quicker and 'better' if placed in a bowl with a bunch of bananas!.

Does anyone know why!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
Banana's produce a gas called ethylene, that gas in turn helps the peach ripen faster!. Another interesting fact is that when you cut a banana for a fruit tray, rub it with the inside of an orange and the banana won't turn brown!. Hope this helps!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
