How long is frozen food really OK to eat?!

Question: How long is frozen food really OK to eat!?
The reason I ask is that without knowing it, I consumed some soup from 2004 today! It was in my dad's freezer and I was cleaning it out, and I defrosted it and micro'ed it and it was delicious!.! So, do I need to go to the ER!? I don't think so!. I was thrilled to eat something my dad cooked four years ago! Www@FoodAQ@Com

The biggest reason for dates on frozen food has to do with quality, more than safety!. If it still tasted fine and was reheated until very hot I don't think there is anything to worry about :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

There have been alot of problems with frozen food lately, especially chicken!. I keep up to date and informed by checking out the food-related news site www!.foodsafetycentral!.net!. They've posted many articles lately about the frozen food crisis!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Properly packaged and stored, frozen food can last for years!. That reminds me: I have some chicken stock from 2006 in my freezer!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

As long as it tastes fine, then I would say that it's not a problem!. Only seek medical attention if you start to feel sick!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

I'd only discard frozen meat after that long!.
Soup would be fine!Www@FoodAQ@Com
