Answers:
First chopped the canes into smaller length, chopped at the edge of each segement and discard the segement portion which are rather hard!. With a sharp knife, align the blade at the edge of skin and slice it all the way!. Repeat it till all skins are removed and cut the canes into bite size portion!. You chew the canes, just like chewing gum and swallows its juice and spit out the fibre!.
There are 3 different varities of sugarcanes!. One is called the "Bamboo Variety" which are rather slim and are usually used by the Chinese to boil it with fresh waterchestnut as a refreshing and cooling drinks!.
There other varieties, either in a green or yellowish green and the last variety, with its skin in a purplish maroon (maybe you refer it as brown) are the normal variety and can be consumed raw!.

Whenever I've had it, it's bee green on the outside, white on the inside!. In my family, we just hack into it with a big-enough knife creating vertical cuts that will allow the peel to be pulled away along the length of the cane!. Then you just take a bite, chew the sweet liquid out and spit the fibers out!. Not visually appealing but tasty =DWww@FoodAQ@Com
