Oops! I forgot to split up my chicken after grocery shopping! What do I do now?!

Question: Oops! I forgot to split up my chicken after grocery shopping! What do I do now!?
Normally, one pack of chicken thighs will feed hubby and I twice!. So I normally split it into two separate containers!. This time I forgot to, and they're frozen solid!. When I thaw the thighs to prepare a meal, can I separate the pack into two separate packs and leave one pack in the refrigerator for a week!? If not, then, how long can I leave thawed chicken thighs in the refrigerator for!?Www@FoodAQ@Com

Answers:
NO dont do what the other person said!. You cant THAW meat and then REFREEZE it!!!

Once thawed - COOK IT and THEN refreeze it!.

OR thaw it out, use what you need and use the rest within 3 days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Thats quite right, dont re freeze meat if it has thawed out completely!. But if the thighs are still frozen solid, simply wait until you can prize them apart, they will still be quite frozen but you will be able to seperate them ,then it is quite safe to refreeze the pieces!.
If the thighs have already thawed, then i would use them up within 2-3 days,a week is far too long to keep them!.
Enjoy!Www@FoodAQ@Com

I would't recommend refreezing it!. What you may have to do is just cook all of it and just freeze half of the cooked chicken for another day!. One more meal you don't have to cook!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

well you're not supposed to thaw and refreeze stuff so if you thaw it I'm thinking you have 3 maybe four days in the fridge your nose will tell you how long its good for when it starts to smell toss it Www@FoodAQ@Com

Don't refreeze meat, it can get freezer burn!. Cook them all and freeze the cooked meat, or use it in 3 days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
