I see this type question over and over on yahoo!. People just don't get this whole "fruit" thing!. Tomatoes are a fruit!. But only when using a scientific definition for fruit!. Botanist have a very specific, presice definition for what a fruit is!. The general public does not use this defintion!. also, there is no scientific definition for "vegetable"!. Botanists don't classfiy anything as vegetable!. And, a lot of "fruits", as defined by botonists, aren't edible!.
There is another defintion for a fruit that is used every day by ordinary people!. Tomatoes, cucumber, etc!. do not fall under this definition!. They are vegetables; just like mushrooms, which are fungi (botanically speaking)!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
