Carrots are usually cut into cubes or oblongs with sharp edges!. These edges dry out and char faster than other vegetables!. A carbonized or sharp edge or point can act like the tip of a lightning rod, which attracts electrical energy toward itself and thereby prevent it from striking anywhere else!. The highly-concentrated carrot-attracting energy is what made the sparks!. I know this sounds a bit far fetched, but it's quite logical!. Next time, use the oven's "defrost" or other low-power setting or add enough water to the bowl to cover the carrots!.
