Believe it or not, those "green bags" that were advertised all over the TV not too long ago actually work!. Not just for bananas, either, they work for ALL produce!. They are available at Wal-Mart, in the "as seen on TV' area!. I have a head of lettuce in one, and I've been picking at it for almost two months, and it's still good!. The bags are cheap, too, so it can actually help you make the most of your produce purchases - a good thing to have these days!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Honestly I have not found any way to slow down the ripening process!. And if you put them in the fridge the skin will turn brown anyway!. If you want and this is only a suggestion buy only a couple of bananas at a time and this might ensure you still get them a bit green like you prefer!.According to what a nutritionist my family knows says eating green bananas will only give you the runs if you eat them constantly!. But Im wondering if they are just saying that and dont really know as it sounds kinda hooky

also this is from another answerer who asked a similar question!.

Q!.Should you refrigerate bananas!? Does it affect their nutritional value!?

A:To slow the ripening process once bananas reach your preferred ripeness, put them in the refrigerator!. Even though our original jingle warned consumers not to refrigerate bananas, it's really OK!. The skin may turn dark, but the fruit will be just right for several days!. Back in 1944 when the "Chiquita Banana" jingle lyrics were written, consumers would typically bring home green bananas and put them in the refrigerator which kept them from ripening properly!.
"I'm Chiquita banana and I've come to say,
bananas have to ripen in a certain way!.!.!.
so you should never put bananas in the refrigerator!.!.!.!.
No, No, No, No"Www@FoodAQ@Com

Buy the bananas in the greenest state possible if you want them to ripen more slowly!. Otherwise be prepared to have a feast of bananas in every known recipe!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Keep them away from other fruit, the gases given off speed up their ripening process!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Store them in the fridge!. The skin will turn black/brown, but the fruit should be okWww@FoodAQ@Com

don't leave them in plastic bags or whatever and keep them in the shade!. putting them in the fridge might help too!.Www@FoodAQ@Com

Buy only what you will eat right away and shop for them often!. Www@FoodAQ@Com
