Is it acceptable to have no cherry on top of a Bakewell tart?!

Question: Is it acceptable to have no cherry on top of a Bakewell tart!?
Answers:
:O Noooo how can you suggest such a thing!! My daughters would be totally shocked, that's their favourite part of the whole thing lol!.!.!.

Although come to think of it I have seen them with white icing and then brown icing kinda "feathered" on the top instead of cherries, but to me, no its nowhere near as good without the cherry! :)Www@FoodAQ@Com

Just about!. However, what isn't acceptable is calling it a tart!. It is a Bakewell Flan!.

If you go into a cake shop in Bakewell and ask for a tart, you are very likely going to get your face slapped! :-)Www@FoodAQ@Com

No you must always have a cherry on top ;)
