For some people any amount can have negative effects!. For the average person, a small amount usually doesn't cause problems!.
Large amounts of alcohol, however, do have deleterious effects on the body!.
As for it getting better, it depends on how much damage was done!. I've lost a couple friends over the years to the "slow suicide" alcohol can be instrumental in!. Neither of them was able to quit drinking, even though the damage was clearly obvious to each of them!. Now, these guys were in serious trouble at that point - if you aren't in such bad shape yet, then there's hope!. Www@FoodAQ@Com

Alcohol is a depressant and is a carbohydrate meaning it will slow down your metabolism and any carbohydrates not burned will be stored as fat!. If this is what you mean by ruine/mess up/ effect!. hope this info helps :)Www@FoodAQ@Com
Alcohol is metabolized very quickly!. So, your body will use the alcohol as it's energy source much faster than any food that you ingest!. As such, alcohol is considered empty calories, which can result in weight gain!.Www@FoodAQ@Com
